Lewy Body Dementia: LBD is a type of dementia characterized by at least two of the three symptoms: level of consciousness, visual hallucinations, and the movements that are typical of Parkinson's Disease. Lewy Body Dementia contains a series of diseases including, a large group of dementia and motor symptoms.
Signs and Symptoms: Signs and symptoms of this disorder include: mental decline, hallucinations, sleep disturbances, fluctuations in blood pressure and body temperature, tremors, slow movements, stooped posture, muscle stiffness, etc.
Development/ Progression: The early stage of progression for LBD begins with: confusion, forgetfulness, losing interest, etc. The middle stage usually contains becoming lost or wandering off, hallucinations, unusual behaviors, etc. The last stage, patients have trouble eating, loss of gradual speech, weight loss, etc. Although, each person with this disorder experience it in their own way.
Treatment/ Prevention: There is no cure for LBD. The treatments are aimed at controlling the symptoms of this disorder.
